E.Y HARBURG & B.LANE´s Finian’s Rainbow is a whimsical tale of fantasy, reality, Irish folklore and romance. A leprechaun, Fort Knox and a pot of gold are also among the ingredients which have made Finian’s Rainbow one of the big musical successes. A movie of the musical was made in 1968 starring Fred Astaire, Petula Clark, Tommy Steele directed by Francis Ford Coppola. A.J LERNER & F. LOEWE´s Brigadoon is a similarly fantastical tale. Two Americans stumble on the enchanted village of Brigadoon while hunting grouse on the Scottish moors. Immortalised by the movie starring Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse, Brigadoon remains a favourite of the genre.
