JELLY-ROLL MORTON - Mr Jelly Lord
Produktbeskrivelse
Original Recordings 1924-1930Morton learned to play the blues early on, was influenced by New Orleans brass bands and started composing songs as a young teenager. Although he didn’t record until 1923, by 1915 Morton was an important transition figure between ragtime and early jazz. By the time he moved to Chicago in 1923, he was a fully fledged and fully formed musician writing numbers such as `King Porter Stomp´, `Wolverine Blues´ and the `Original Jelly Roll Blues´. A brilliant pianist, composer and arranger who was one of the first major giants of jazz. Some of Morton’s happiest musical moments are included on this fine collection.
